Discussion:
[SOGo] Address not synchronized when focus is on "All address books"

Hi,

I am not sure whether or not this is the right forum to ask my question. So
bear with me and let me know when this is the wrong place.

The problem I am faced with goes like this:

a) The environment is Win7, Thunderbird 38.6.0, Lightning 4.0.6, Sogo 31.0.2
and two remote address books coming from my OwnCloud server 8.1.1-7.

b) Now, when I open the Thunderbird address book, the focus is on "Alle
Adressb=C3=BCcher", which translates to "All address books". Below that roo=
t node
there are my two remote address books. The list of address records shows
records from both address books, so that I can edit addresses from both
sources. The problem is, that a modified address is not synchronized with t=
he
OwnCloud server as long as I edit the address with the focus on the root no=
de
(Alle Adressb=C3=BCcher).

c) But when I select one of the address books on the left hand side of the
window, changes of address records are properly synchronized.

d) This is what the left hand side of the address book window looks like:

Alle Adressb=C3=BCcher
+-- ownCloud (1) Thomas
+-- ownCloud (2) Heike

e) Short form of the problem:

When "Alle Adressb=C3=BCcher" is selected all address records are displayed=
on the
right hand side of the window, but no changes are synchronized.

When either "ownCloud (1) Thomas" or "ownCloud (2) Heike" is selected, the
records of the selected remote address book are displayed and changes are
synchronized.

Your ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thomas.

Sorry, but this looks like either an owncloud or Thunderbird address
book problem.
I do not see, what that has to do with SOGo.

Same problem here:
Thunderbird 38.6.0 with addon "Inverse Sogo Connector" 31.0.1,
configured against sogo 2.3.8-1. No other adressbooks involed.

Sogo-Connector does not trigger a sync after editing any record from
"all adressbooks" view.

Obviously I wasn't clear enough.

"Inverse Sogo Connector" provides the single address books configured
via "remote address book".
Thunderbird does create and populate that meta address book "Alle
AdressbÃŒcher".
"Inverse Sogo Connector" does not even know that this "Alle
AdressbÃŒcher" exists. It also doesn't know which card in that belongs to
which "real" address book.
So when you change an address card from that "Alle AdressbÃŒcher",
Thunderbird has to inform the matching "real" address book for that card
about this change.
Only then the "Inverse Sogo Connector" can do anything.

As that does not happen, Thunderbird is at fault here.

Christian,

Thank you for your detailed description. That was what I needed to know.
Hopefully I can find somebody of the Thunderbird team who could help me
with the issue.

Regards,

Thomas.
