Discussion:
[SOGo] Issues Synchronizing Contacts using SOGo Connector for Thunderbird 10

Our setup for mail is a little odd than most of the users here using
SOGo. Our mail server provides GroupWare (WebDAV & CalDAV) as apart of
the system, however it lacks the ability to utilize Thunderbird fully
without any add-ons. Hopefully the follow few statements will help clear
the air and allow for some better understanding of our infrastructure..

Since Thunderbird 3.1.x we used a combination of Lightning Inverse
edition and SOGo Connector to allow us to map the user calendars and
contacts (including our GAL using WebDAV). Below are example URLs that
would be configured when adding a new Remote Calendar via CalDAV and
Remote Address Book using WebDAV.

Remote Calendar:
http://mail.<domain>.com/webdav/bmurtagh@<domain>.com/Events
Remote Address Book Personal Contacts:
http://mail.<domain>.com/webdav/bmurtagh@<domain>.com/Contacts/
Remote Address Book GAL:
http://mail.<domain>.com/webdav/bmurtagh@<domain>.com/Global%20Address%20List/Contacts/

Now with Thunderbird 10 ESR rockin' & rollin' with Inverse, I setup a
test install and included the office Lightning v1.2.1. I had zero issues
mapping the user calendar and even the Group calendar for the IT
Department.

The problem I run into is with the SOGo Connector and attempting to
synchronize the user contacts and Global Address List contacts.. I am
able to add both Remote Address Books, however when I right-click each
and try to sync nothing happens.

Can anyone help me locate a log file or something on the local PC to
help and diagnose why the synchronization isn't working?

Thank you,

Brendan

One thing is to look in the error console of thunderbird.
Usually you will see errors and/or warning in there....

Had the same issue with nothing happening when hitting synchronize. (With
owncloud)
Closing down tb and doing:
rm ${HOME}/.thunderbird/*/extensions.sqlite

fixed that particular issue for me. However...

There appears to be a problem with contacts being duplicated on sync with
owncloud. It is actually a bit hard to explain, because there is no obvious
pattern to the duplication. Not obvious to me yet, anyway.

Anyone else seeing that?

We're working on two fixes that might resolve that issue. New extensions
will likely be released tonight.

Hello,

I just like to confirm that I encountered similar problems with the
pre2 release with Thunderbird 10 on Mac OS X 10.6.8.

The SOGo Connector was able to fetch my contacts from my personal
ownCloud server (which has a CardDAV server builtin). However, when I
make changes to, or create a new contact in Thunderbird, these changes
are not propogated back onto the server. Even when I repeatedly click
the Synchronize button it doesn't seem to do anything...

The strange thing is I can't find any relavant messages in the error
console. Am I not looking in the right place?

Hopefully the next prerelease will resolve this issue. Thanks!
